Introduction to Podcasting

CATALOG COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course provides students with practical experience in creating audio and video podcasts using software that is open source or bundled with an operating system. Course topics include planning, recording, editing, applying compression, and publishing the file to a server. Students will also learn how podcasting is being used in education, business, entertainment, and a variety of other industries.

LEARNING OUTCOMES & ASSESSMENTS

Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to

  1. Describe the history, trends and uses of podcasting and its impact on other media. This will be assessed with an asynchronous discussion, scored by a rubric.

  2. Plan and design podcast content that is appropriate and meaningful for the intended audience. This will be assessed with project, scored by a rubric.

  3. Produce, and distribute an audio and video podcast. This will be assessed with project, scored by a rubric.
