CATALOG COURSE DESCRIPTION

Provides an overview of principles and techniques of effective Internet product marketing.  Topics include an introduction to electronic commerce, personal and business services online, buying online, doing business on the Web, developing an electronic commerce web site.

LEARNING OUTCOMES & ASSESSMENTS

Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to

  1. Use the Internet to find information about companies and products.

  2. Discuss companies that have achieved success with E-commerce.

  3. Explain how associations and professional organizations can use the Internet to help accomplish their goals.

  4. Discuss the benefits of an Internet presence for a small business.

  5. Investigate online sources for banking, insurance information, and keeping tract of financial portfolios.

  6. Search for government information useful to a business

  7. Locate business suppliers.

  8. Explain the kinds of ordering, payment, and delivery information required for online business purchases.

  9. Evaluate the security and privacy of a site.

  10. Discuss how to sell products through online catalogs and order systems.

  11. Describe how to track and deliver products using the Internet.
