Work Based Learning: DMA Project

Webcasting Conference: Webcasting Initiative

What is Webcasting?

Webcasting is high bandwidth video delivery of real-time instruction over the internet. This medium allows for distance learning, yet still maintains important advantages of traditional classroom instruction, such as live demonstration and live, two-way communication between students and the instructor.

The Media Arts Webcasting Center provides instruction that includes internships and experiential learning opportunities, individualized and instructional contracts that require students to develop learning objectives, as well as the development of interpersonal skills and the pursuit of independent study. This center provides increased access to the college media arts program while supporting multiple learning styles through a mix of interactive tools, learning resources, and a virtual learning community environment that includes classmates, intra-disciplinary faculty, and sponsoring business partners. Local students onsite in the Webcasting center, and distant students at various high school centers across the service area, collaborate in a synchronized course delivery utilizing real-time delivery technologies on the internet. Experiential learning and collaborative project design are be facilitated at each distant site by a media arts intern faculty member.

Tech Prep Articulation Summary

The purpose of the Tech Prep Program at Cerro Coso is to provide a career path for students interested in a guided educational program to help them achieve their goal of obtaining employment in a given industry.

Cerro Coso is currently developing an online semi-automated articulation system. This online system will assist in automating and simplifying the articulation process between area High Schools and the college. High schools are able to view current course outlines and learning objectives, as well as post their own proposals for articulations, as well as communicate with college faculty in a discussion forum format for collaborative articulation discussion. To find out more about articulation and our online articulation system please visit the Tech Prep Articulation website.
