CATALOG COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course presents the principles and theory underlying the design,
construction and operation of the automobile's fuel system and related
components, and emission control fundamentals.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the principles and theory underlying
the design, construction and operation of various automotive engine
components that relate to engine performance diagnosis, maintenance and
repair, including emissions with 85% accuracy showing correct use of
industry standard diagnostic equipment. This will be assessed through
direct observation, scored with a rubric.
- Practice clean and safe working habits that are consistent with
trade practices set by OSHA standards. This will be assessed through
direct observation, scored with a rubric.
- Access shop-service manuals, catalogs, and other reference materials
to identify and confirm solutions to diagnostic problems with 85%
accuracy based on appropriate automotive standards and procedures.

rubric.
- Access testing equipment related to automotive engine performance,
and diagnose engine performance problems. This will be assessed through
direct observation, scored with a rubric.
