Electrical Systems
AUTO C115
CATALOG COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course presents the principles and theories underlying the design,
construction and operation of the automobile's electrical systems. Students
learn to diagnose, test, adjust and repair electrical system components.
This course prepares students for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE)
testing in electrical systems.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the principles and theory underlying
the design, construction and operation of the automotive electrical
system. This will be measured by achieving a score of 65% on the ASE
Electrical Systems examination. This will be assessed through direct
observation, scored with a rubric.
- Employ safe, clean, trade-like working habits. This will be assessed
through direct observation, scored with a rubric.
- Independently use shop-service manuals, catalogs, flat rate manuals
and other reference materials. This will be assessed through direct
observation, scored with a rubric.
- Independently use testing equipment related to automotive electrical
systems, and effectively interpret test results. This will be assessed
through direct observation, scored with a rubric.
