Automotive Suspension & Steering

CATALOG COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course presents the principles and theory underlying the diagnosis, repair and maintenance of the suspension system, including wheel bearings, tires and shocks. 

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of the principles and theory underlying the design, construction and operation of the automotive suspension and steering systems.  This will be assessed through direct observation, scored with a rubric.  
  2. Practice clean and safe working habits that are consistent with trade practices.  This will be assessed through direct observation, scored with a rubric.
  3. Access shop-service manuals, catalogs, flat rate manuals and other reference materials to formulate solutions to diagnostic problems.  This will be assessed through direct observation, scored with a rubric.
  4. Access testing equipment related to automotive suspension and steering systems, and diagnose suspension and steering performance problems.  This will be assessed through direct observation, scored with a rubric.
