Computer Literacy
CATALOG COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This hands-on course is designed for those with little or no computer
experience. Learners practice file management, email, instant messaging and
basic word processing as well as Internet browsing and searching. Computer
terminology and identification of fundamental hardware and software
applications is introduced. This course brings the successful participant
to universal computer literacy standards for the International Computer
Drivers License (ICDL).
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
- demonstrate fundamental knowledge of computer hardware and
software functions to perform basic computing tasks.
- work in the Windows operating system environment to open
application programs and create introductory documents including
word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and database.
- practice file management to create, save, copy, delete, and
retrieve stored files and folders using a variety of procedures.
- understand and apply basic formatting and editing options common
to word processing programs.
- open and use an e-mail account.
- browse the Web using common features of Internet Explorer.
