CATALOG COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This hands-on computer course is designed to provide an intermediate understanding of database programs.  Fundamental relational database design and management as well as building and editing basic tables, forms, queries, and reports is introduced.  This course begins preparation for the core level Microsoft Access Office Specialist certification exam.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:

  1. Apply a basic understanding of relational database concepts and structure to create a new database and define relationships between tables.
  2. Manage a database including backup, compacting, and converting.
  3. Plan, design, build, modify, and print basic database tables, forms, queries, and reports.
  4. Apply guidelines for designing databases and tables and for field properties including primary key.
  5. Determine and apply appropriate problem solving techniques using Help and reference material off and online for successful creation of enhanced database objects using Microsoft Access.
