A+ Standard Skills for IT Technicians
CATALOG COURSE
DESCRIPTION:
This course builds upon the technical understanding of professional computer
support and develops competency for troubleshooting in a corporate network
environment. This course prepares a student for the CompTIA A+ 220-602 exam
for IT Technicians.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be
able to:
- Prove knowledge of computer support, basic security, and
configuration in a networked environment with 80% correctness. This
will be measured by an exam.
- Demonstrate an ability to troubleshoot problem scenarios where
the student has identified influencing factors and performed an
appropriate action of support. This will be evaluated through lab
reports and scored with a rubric.
- Discuss challenging technical concepts among a group of peers to
arrive at a documented long-answer conclusion. Students will be
partially evaluated by peer review using a peer review rubric.
Groups will also be evaluated by faculty critique of long-answer
correctness.
- Articulate the professional attitude and values appropriate for
an entry level technician. This will be observed through an exit
interview scored by faculty using a Likert scale.
- Demonstrate preparedness to take the Comp Tia A+ 220-602
certification exam for IT Technicians. This will be measured by an
exam.
