Network + Fundamentals of Network Technologies
CATALOG COURSE
DESCRIPTION:
This course emphasizes the fundamental technical understanding of computer
networks. Network+ is a globally recognized certificate to validate a
student’s proficiency installing, configuring and troubleshooting basic
network hardware, protocols and services. A successful candidate is
prepared to take the Network+ certification exam. This course is ideal for
prospective candidates in network administration and/or further training in
Microsoft, Linux, and/or network routing and switching.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be
able to:
- Prove knowledge of networking concepts such as IP addressing,
subnetting, and the logical and physical network topologies. This
will be measured by an exam.
- Demonstrate an ability to identify target information or
configuration requirements and perform requested actions in a skill
demonstration scenario. This will be evaluated through lab reports
and scored with a rubric.
- Discuss challenging technical concepts among a group of peers to
arrive at a documented long-answer conclusion. Students will be
partially evaluated by peer review using a peer review rubric.
Groups will also be evaluated by faculty critique of long-answer
correctness.
- Articulate professional goal progress as would be expected by an
employment administrator. This will be observed through a progress
interview scored by faculty using a Likert scale.
- Demonstrate preparedness to take the Comp Tia Network+ IT
certification exam. This will be measured by a comprehensive final
exam.
