DESCRIPTION:
This hands-on computer course is designed to provide an advanced
understanding of entry level creation and modification of database
applications in business. Action queries, table relationship properties,
automating tasks with macros are covered including Switchboard development.
Visual Basic for Applications is introduced to enhance database construction
and functionality. Managing with replication and synchronization as well
securing with user level Security Wizard is included. This course prepares
the student to take the expert level Microsoft Access Office Specialist
certification exam.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be
able to:
- Create action queries, including make-table, append, delete, and
update.
- Identify and employ appropriate application of one-to-many,
many-to-many, and one-to-one table relationships.
- Apply inner-join, outer-join, and self-join principles to query
design.
- Automate tasks using macros and implement a graphical user
interface through switchboard creation.
- Create a custom form using SQL statement in a query to retrieve
database information.
- Execute, view, and modify and create a procedure using Visual
Basic for Applications (VBA).
- Analyze database performance using the Performance Analyzer,
- Manage database distribution with replication, synchronization
or splitting.
- Implement Access security features such as passwords,
encryption, and permissions to protect a database from unauthorized
use.
- Determine and apply problem solving techniques using Help and
reference material for successful creation of customized database
applications using Microsoft Access.
