Introduction to LEGO Robotics
 

CATALOG COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course is an introduction to Robotics using the LEGO Mind storms platform. Basic mechanical, electronics, and control issues in Robotics are discussed, including the design and implementation of robotic systems. Students design, implement, and program a variety of robotic systems.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:

  1. Discuss and classify the robotic systems.
  2. Organize, systematize, and evaluate options while deciding on a robotic system application.
  3. Verify the functionality of the final products with respect to the requirements, and be able to calibrate the system when necessary.
  4. Operate the RCX/NXT Brick, program using the LEGO visual language, schedule and synchronize tasks for the robotics systems.

    Assessment: Students completing this course with a grade of “C” or better will be able to construct a working robot that completes an assigned task.
