Extensible Markup Language (XML)

DESCRIPTION:
An introduction to Extensible Markup Language (XML), an engine that allows
users to describe data regardless of whether that data is being processed
via fax, wireless device, or computer. Students will learn how to share and
access data both on the web and in business settings.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be
able to:
- Discuss the development of XML as a markup language.
- Create a well-formed and valid XML document using XML
components, including parsers, applications, errors, basic logical
structure.
- Discuss basic XML authoring tools including text editors,
graphical text editors, and integrated development environments.
- Compare document type definition (DTDs) and document modeling.
- Analyze schema components, mixed content elements, empty element
content, and how to use facets to define data precisely.
- Design and apply XSLT transformations.
- Discuss, apply, and validate XML linking language (XLink).
- Compare XHTML variants and convert a website to HTML.
- Design an XML document using CSS style.
