ENGL C222 World Literature II
CATALOG COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course provides a chronological survey of the
literature of Europe from the seventeenth century through
the twentieth century.
REQUISITES
Advisory: Level 1 Reading and Level 1 Writing
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon successful completion of the course, the student
will be able to
- understand the literary elements of plot, structure,
character, theme, and imagery.
- apply the literary elements of plot, structure,
character, theme, and imagery to a specific literary work.
- describe major writers, works, and genres, such as
tragedy and satire, as well as movements, such as
romanticism and realism.
- explain the relation between historical context and
literary elements.
