ENGL C232 Survey of British Literature II: 1785 to the Present

CATALOG COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course studies British literature from the Romantic Period to the present.

REQUISITES

Advisory: Level 1 Reading and Level 1 Writing

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to

  1. understand the literary elements of plot, structure, character, theme, and imagery.
  2. apply the literary elements of plot, structure, character, theme, and imagery to a specific literary work.
  3. describe major writers, works, and genres, such as epic and sonnet, as well as movements, such as medieval and restoration.
  4. explain the relation between historical context and literary elements.
