ENGL C245 Women's Literature
CATALOG COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course studies the literary achievements of women
writers.
REQUISITES
Advisory: Level 1 Reading and Level 1 Writing
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will
be able to
- understand the literary elements of plot,
structure, character, theme, and imagery.
- apply the literary elements of plot, structure,
character, theme, and imagery to a specific literary work.
- explain the extent to which literature mirrors or shapes
historical and social attitudes with particular emphasis on
the roles, images, and concerns of women as expressed in
literature.
- analyze gender as it relates to literature.
- describe the major themes, forms, and trends in women's
literature.
