Where is California City?
California City is located in the Southern California High Desert at the northern end of the Antelope Valley: Ridgecrest lies to the north, the Tehachapi Mountains to the west, and Palmdale and Lancaster to the south. California City is located a short 120 miles from Los Angeles and the Pacific Ocean, only 180 miles to Nevada's stateline. The California City limits run east to US Highway 395, State Highway 58 to the south, and State Highway 14 to the west. California City is the third largest city in California, encompassing 204 square miles or 130,200 acres, the eleventh largest city in the nation in area. The climate is dry and mild in all four seasons, which is typical for the California High Desert.

Where is Ridgecrest?
Ridgecrest is located in the southern portion of the Indian Wells Valley and in the northeast corner of Kern County, surrounded by four mountain ranges: the Sierra Nevada to the west, the Cosos to the north, the Argus Range to the east, and the El Paso Mountains to the south. It is an hour and 15 minute drive from the Lancaster/Palmdale area and approximately two hours from both Bakersfield and San Bernardino. A favorable characteristic of the city is its proximity to two major highways, the 395 and 14. Air travel in and out of the city is provided through the Inyokern Airport. These attributes make Ridgecrest a central location for shopping and business for the Eastern Kern County area. Ridgecrest is also easily accessible to the rest of southern California, making it an ideal location for industry.

Does Cerro Coso have student housing?
No, not at this time. However, compared to other California cities, housing is very affordable in Ridgecrest.
